I will always LOVE you…..

20 Jan

Not sure when it all began.. but it definitely dates back to my childhood days when I was in  the boarding school. That’s when you would come  along with my mom when she came to visit me or with my friends parents. You were  very quite and shy but extremely attractive and charming. All the girls in school couldn’t   take their eyes off you and would wait for me to  introduce you to them. When I did , everyone dived right into you- like as if you were the most delicious treat they ever tasted. Well, what can I say….. you were our Knight in shinning Armour and we were all  Rapunzel waiting to be rescued by you from the boarding school.

I thought, things would change once we went to College. Supposedly  by then, we would have grown up and out of the fairy tale world. Surprisingly , nothing changed when it came to you ,except you didn’t visit us anymore  with our parents  instead made your rare appearance on special occasions like Valentines Day or on Birth Day’s.You were no longer the Shy guy from school but the  lover every girl wanted to flaunt. You would fall on your knee and  shower the girls  with all the lines you crammed up from the Bollywood movies you studied diligently the night before. Honestly, no matter how cheesy those lines were, every single girl in the college fell for it. They didn’t care how many girlfriends you  had or have. They still  longed to be in your arms. Boy, now when I think of it, you were a real PLAYER !!(Was George Clooney your favorite actor back then?) Anyway.. .I was a silent spectator and was busy in my little world of hockey games & books. I did notice you though  and of course  I did have a crush on  you..however.. I wasn’t crazy about you like the rest.

After we graduated from College and  went our separate ways into the REAL world.I don’t recall  seeing you again. Getting out of  the college was fun since there were no more test(Exam)to worry about. Those dreadful test that gave me many sleepless nights. However, it didn’t dawn on me that those were just MOCK test  until I stepped out of the College Gate.

As I began to  gradually unravel the true fairly tale of life & tried to pass each “liv(f)e” test with flying colors- I  did pretty okay on all the subject except when it came to LOVE. I  had no clue about this subject especially when it came to loving a man. Having been raised in a all girl convent school and college and with minimal interaction with the opposite sex, it was hard for me to understand  them. I picked up few books like “Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus”  but… nothing seemed to help.  I drove them all nuts and they did the same, because the language of  our hearts were so different. Just when, I was about  to give up on this subject and say, “What the F…, I don’t care anymore..”, that’s when YOU came along. I didn’t recognize you at first  since it s been a while since we last met. However, when you held me in your arms  and kissed me on my forehead and said , “Girl, I got your back. I promise  you will pass this exam with flying colors, now that I am with you!”. I felt  a deep sense of relief  and respect for my new found Teacher.(Why did I not think of him earlier???.He had scored extremely well in this subject back in College and maybe was even better PLAYER then George Clooney.)You instantly spotted my  weakness in this subject and with patience, imparted your  knowledge about love and how to embrace  it without choking it  with insecurity and fear.

There was no turning back after that.I was on cloud 9 and felt I had the whole world in my palms. The journey of life after that was one long honeymoon……until, I woke up one day with severe tooth ache and my regular pants refuse to accept me. That’s when another  reality lightning  struck  me !! .  I had become so dependent on you  to the point that , every time  I felt I was falling off the cliff, I would reach my hands out to you. You were the answer to all the grey areas in my life. The consequence – I  now have 12 cavities and my pant size went from 6 to 8 and even the  8 is making a fuss.

It’s time for me to apply the last lesson you taught  me about LOVE – which is to let go even when you love someone dearly. It’s time we part our ways before I lose the very last tooth I have.Trust me, I will be fine and you will always be in my thoughts and of course  I will come and visit you occasionally  on Valentines day and my B’day but… not everyday. I will always love  you……….  – MY DEAR CHOCOLATE!!!   MY LOVE GURU:)))

“I try to lose it, but it keeps finding me?? ”

15 Sep

It’s been a while since, I wrote about my progress on  my weight loss goal. Well…. the reason I guess is pretty obvious 😦  I haven’t made any progress. This is where I am at the moment. Not very proud of myself…… (But.. I guess, its human to  fall down and  get side-tracked – good excuse 🙂 )

I am at a ” LAZY POINT” stage in my weight loss journey 🙂 I managed to hide my “weight” pretty well in this picture… that’s coz, I just got lucky with this picture. But, trust me , they are all there if you look closely.:(

I have to find a new hiding place and a new strategy to win this  long battle  with my weight. It seems to find me no matter where I hide 😦

Today, I was buried in my work  and  didn’t expect “weight” to find me but…. as I mentioned earlier, it managed to  find me again!!!   It came hiding in a huge box   disguised as a 10 yr Anniversary  present to our office from Momofuku Milk Bar( . When we opened the huge box, it was  not just few cookies, it was an entire army of irresistible   assorted cookies who had come all ready to attack our sweet tooth. When it passed by me to the kitchen table, I   took  a quick glance at the box  and went back to  work…. only to find myself few.. minutes later, at the kitchen table,  eating a corn cookie. Then… seconds before, I was ready to leave home from work, I took a another corn cookie- they tasted so good .

Oooh boy!!!  How do I get this weight  off my body?!  if you are reading this and you are sailing in the same boat, please join my army and lets win this battle together. At least,  before Christmas so, we can celebrate our  victory on New Year’s Eve. Are we ready?? 🙂

Maria Michta&Chime’s – Meet & Greet Moment at Astor Place.

22 Aug

Maria Michta represented  U.S.A  at the 20K Women racewalk  in London 2012 Olympics.Although, she didn’t win a medal, she cut two minutes and 25 seconds off her personal best race time and walked the distance faster than any American 20K walker in the history of the Olympic Games. It was an honor to meet her last Saturday at Astor Place.

Here is how our  brief conversation went:

Chime:  Hi! What a wonderful surprise to see you here! I bet you must have had a great time at the Olympics? Did you get chance to talk to “Choeyang” from Tibet?(Maria looks puzzled), so I rephrased my question  and said..  .. Quieyang from China………?”

Maria:   You mean… The Girl who came 3rd in the race?”

Chime :  Yes, She is Tibetan  but currently representing China since  Tibet is occupied by China”

Maria:  Ohh, I didn’t know  she was Tibetan.  I didn’t really get a chance to talk to her, it was pretty hectic  after the event”

Chime: “I am sure you will get to see her in the next Olympic in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil,I hope you guys get a chance to talk then..”

Maria: “I hope so..that would be awesome! By the way, does she speak English?”

Chime: “Good question, to be honest, I am not sure if she speaks English. I don’t know her personally and haven’t heard of her until the London Olympics”

Chime: “I am thrilled to meet an Olympian and  Iwish you all the best for 2016 Olympics.”

                  Maria: “Thank you!”

Great tips from Maria Michta on how to stay fit and healthy.

Zumba Jam

18 Jun

The best way to take your workout one notch up and kick  the monotony of the daily gym workout is to  take a Zumba class. That’s what I did yesterday. I did 45 minutes of spinning class at the gym in the morning and later  in the  evening , I went  for a  Zumba class with my friend Yacine. It was the most intense  & fun workout I have done to date. The room was filled with  group of women who were all fired up and ready to break the floor. Once, the music started, it was hard to stop the  party. We danced away our calories and  worked out till we were all drenched in sweat. Someone once told me that, when you are enjoying, you don’t realize how time flies. It is so true and couldn’t agree more after this class. It was  an hour an half long class  with only few minutes  break,   but neither did I feel tired nor was I looking at the clock. I was surprised with the energy that I still had after the class. It was Yacine’s first Zumba class and she loved it. We are definitely going back for the next class. If you want to be part of the fun , feel free to join us.

One of the biggest challenges  in my life so far  has been to   reach my  ideal weight goal of 130 lbs.(U can imagine what my weight was then ? 🙂 )Over the years, my weight loss journey  has been like a see-saw. One year,  I would lose  some of it and then  the next year, I would gain it all back.( All thanks to my love for  anything that has sugarrrrr!!) However, it was in  Jan 2011,  when I reached my all time highest weight of  162lbs. My  waist size  moved from 8 to 12. It was the most alarming moment in my life. I no longer found this  see – saw game  with my weight  funny or fun. I had to  grow  out of it and  put a  end to this game for good. I  pulled up my socks and gears and worked my  way  to 140lbs by Dec  2011. My waist size was now  6 ( first time EVER in my life).  There is nothing more   satisfying  then to see my persistenace and perservance paying off   with these impressive  numbers.  I took a short vacation to celebrate my victory and loved my new look and felt as  light  as a feather 🙂 .

I  welcomed  2012 with my new  weight and felt on top of the world.  I was confident that losing the next 10lbs would be a piece of cake and I would soon be on my way to take my next vacation to celebrate my ultimate victory. However, I was wrong;  firstly, while I was still basking in the joy over losing so much  weight, I had gradually started  nibbling on chocholates , ice cream , brownie….  and before I knew, I had gained 5lbs and I was  145lbs by March 2012. A  jolt from reality put me  back on track. However, this time, despite  my effort  I wasn’t losing any pounds. I had reached  a  plateau and  my weight   consistenly stayed at 145lbs  for the next two months(April & May). My hope  of  reaching  my goal was slowly dwindling and I was almost on the verge of giving up,  thats when my brother Tenam (Best brother in the world) surprised me witha gift  THAT  rekindled my hope an confidence  to reach my goal.  He had got me the complete gym work out outfit from my favorite store and a new pair of sneakers. He is  man of few words  and rarely express his thoughts but I know deep down that he  has the kindest heart and  is  one of the best brother I have .

Today is his Birthday & I have written this blog to express  my sincere thanks to my chocho(tibetan word for brother)  for always being there for  me.

Messsage for my brother:”I wish you  all the best in life and  hope you have many many more b’days to come. I  promise to  reach my weight goal of 130lb no matter what it takes. This is my promise lo:) . Love you chocho!”
